Summary: The Buyer role based in Birchwood, Cheshire, involves managing procurement processes within a manufacturing environment, ideally with engineering experience. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement and is deemed inside IR35, with a minimum contract duration of 12 months. Candidates should have a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management, with a focus on delivering procurement strategies and supplier evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the point of contact for the procurement team, managing dependencies across the manufacturing facility.
- Create procurement strategies and communicate cost, time, and quality deliverables to stakeholders.
- Nominate suppliers and evaluate their capacity and capability.
- Prepare management reports to evidence performance against key targets.
- Report weekly on outsourcing KPIs.
- Negotiate contracts and agree on terms and conditions as per standard procedures.
- Manage risks and opportunities registers.
- Plan and present plan gateways according to internal procedures.
Key Skills:
- Experience in purchasing and supply chain management, preferably in an engineering manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to create and implement procurement strategies.
- Experience in supplier evaluation and contract negotiation.
- Familiarity with management reporting and KPI tracking.
- CIPS qualification preferred or currently studying for CIPS.
