Summary: The Buyer role based in Birchwood, Cheshire, involves managing procurement processes within a manufacturing environment, ideally with engineering experience. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement and is deemed inside IR35, with a minimum contract duration of 12 months. Candidates should have a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management, with a focus on delivering procurement strategies and supplier evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the point of contact for the procurement team, managing dependencies across the manufacturing facility.
  • Create procurement strategies and communicate cost, time, and quality deliverables to stakeholders.
  • Nominate suppliers and evaluate their capacity and capability.
  • Prepare management reports to evidence performance against key targets.
  • Report weekly on outsourcing KPIs.
  • Negotiate contracts and agree on terms and conditions as per standard procedures.
  • Manage risks and opportunities registers.
  • Plan and present plan gateways according to internal procedures.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in purchasing and supply chain management, preferably in an engineering manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to create and implement procurement strategies.
  • Experience in supplier evaluation and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with management reporting and KPI tracking.
  • CIPS qualification preferred or currently studying for CIPS.

Salary (Rate): £28.00
