Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement of materials and services required for the project.
- Issue requests for quotations and negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
- Ensure material orders are aligned with project requirements and budgets.
- Maintain accurate purchase requisitions and purchase orders (SAP MM experience beneficial).
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage any issues that arise with supply or delivery.
- Engage with H&S, Sustainability, and Social Value teams to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Support prompt payment processes and ensure that contractual terms are met.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Buyer within civil engineering projects, preferably in rail.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in IT systems (SAP MM experience is a plus).
- CIPS qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Willingness to travel for meetings across the project as needed.
