Summary: The Power BI Developer role involves designing high-quality datasets and building scalable data models to create impactful dashboards that support critical business processes. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to translate business requirements into BI solutions while improving the resilience of reporting assets. The role is based in various locations including Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, or Edinburgh, with a hybrid working arrangement. The contract is initially for six months with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimise Power BI data models, schemas, and relationships
- Develop interactive dashboards and reports that deliver clear and actionable insights
- Build high-performance Power BI datasets and manage them within Power BI Service
- Write efficient DAX measures for KPIs, time intelligence, and complex business logic
- Deliver robust data transformations using Power Query (M) and SQL pipelines
- Integrate Power BI with automation and AI tools, including Copilot Studio and Power Automate
- Improve dataset resilience, refresh reliability, and performance optimisation
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions
- Document data lineage, business logic, and model architecture
Key Skills:
- Experience as a BI developer within Banking is essential
- Strong experience with Power BI Desktop, DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI Service
- Solid SQL skills including joins, CTEs, and window functions
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and data warehouse principles
- Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
