Summary: The role of a Data Business Analyst involves analyzing large datasets to support evidence-based decision-making and policy development within a think tank or research environment. The candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to translate complex requirements into actionable insights and data models. Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret large-scale datasets to identify trends, correlations, and actionable insights in support of policy and strategic research.
  • Translate complex business and research requirements into structured data queries and models.
  • Work closely with researchers, economists, and subject matter experts to define data needs and refine data collection methods.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate key findings using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python/R.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of data strategies, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security of data.
  • Collaborate with external partners and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver impactful analytical solutions.
  • Conduct data validation and ensure integrity across multiple data sources.
  • Participate in cross-functional research initiatives that inform public policy, social programs, or economic recommendations.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Data Business Analyst or similar role, ideally in a think tank, research institute, academic, or nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency in working with large datasets (mass data) and complex databases.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Excel, and data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Excellent analytical thinking with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in research or data-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with data governance, privacy regulations, and ethical use of data.
  • Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
