Summary: The Business Continuity & Emergency Preparedness and Response Manager at Great British Energy - Nuclear will lead the establishment and oversight of the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) strategies. This role is critical for ensuring organizational resilience against disruptions while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will develop strategies and processes from the ground up and will act as a subject matter expert in nuclear power station design and interfacing with various stakeholders. The position also involves building a team to support these initiatives over time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) for GBE-N.
- Prepare and test continuity plans, ensuring readiness across all business units.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions for staff on continuity and crisis management.
- Monitor and report BCMS performance to senior leadership.
- Lead the development and maintenance of emergency response plans for conventional and nuclear incidents.
- Act as primary liaison with Local Resilience Forums, regulators, and emergency services.
- Coordinate crisis management teams during incidents, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
- Maintain EP&R elements of the security case and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Ensure appropriate incident response arrangements are in place for each stage in the project life cycle.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and implement lessons learned.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, regulators, and external partners.
- Represent GBE-N in emergency planning forums and regulatory engagements.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Risk Management, Security, Safety, or related discipline.
- Professional certification in Business Continuity or Emergency Planning desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations and make critical decisions.

Role Description: The IPT Safety, Licensing and Assurance Function is seeking a qualified and experienced Business Continuity & Emergency Preparedness and Response Manager to establish, lead, and oversee GBE-N’s Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) as well as establishing Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) requirements and strategies. The successful candidate will ensure organisational resilience against disruptions and strict adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. This position presents a unique opportunity to develop strategy, processes, and procedures from the ground up. The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert for the Business Continuity / Emergency Preparedness and Response aspects of the nuclear power station design and interfacing across GBE-N, with supply chain partners and also Regulators. The role holder must be able to achieve security clearance and will be expected to recruit and, over time, form a team expected to be in the region of 1-3 FTE.

Prepare and test continuity plans, ensuring readiness across all business units. Deliver training and awareness sessions for staff on continuity and crisis management. - Emergency Preparedness & Response: Lead the development and maintenance of emergency response plans for conventional and nuclear incidents including setting design requirements for construction and operation of the nuclear power station. Act as primary liaison with Local Resilience Forums, regulators, and emergency services. Coordinate crisis management teams during incidents, ensuring effective communication and decision-making. Maintain EP&R elements of the security case and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Incident Management : Ensure that appropriate incident response arrangements are in place for each stage in the project life cycle. Ensure accurate information capture and reporting during incidents. Conduct post-incident reviews and implement lessons learned.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal teams, regulators, and external partners. Represent GBE-N in emergency planning forums and regulatory engagements.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills : Essential : Degree in Risk Management, Security, Safety, or related discipline.
