Role Title: Business Analyst / Business Change Analyst

SFIA Level: Role Purpose

The Business Analyst / Business Change Analyst supports the design and delivery of value-driven transformation by combining structured business analysis with practical business change and service management awareness.

The role helps define business and user needs, supports service design and transition activity, and ensures change is translated into clear requirements, workable processes and measurable service outcomes.

How the Role Contributes Across Think / Plan / Do / Run

Think: supports discovery, requirements gathering, baseline analysis and benefits definition, including review of current services, stakeholder needs and user pain points

Plan: contributes to user journeys, process maps, service models, requirements and future-state ways of working

Do: supports implementation and business readiness, including change impact assessment, service transition activity and handover preparation

Run: helps define MI and reporting needs, reviews service performance data and identifies improvement opportunities linked to benefits and user experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, document and validate business, user and service requirements
  • Support workshops, interviews, stakeholder engagement and analysis activities
  • Produce as-is and to-be process, service and operational views
  • Contribute to service design artefacts, including workflows, service descriptions and support model inputs
  • Support change impact assessment, business readiness and adoption activities
  • Maintain traceability between business need, service design, delivery and outcomes
  • Support service transition through handover documentation, readiness inputs and operational alignment
  • Assist with service performance analysis and continual improvement activities

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in business analysis, business change or service improvement activity
  • Good understanding of requirements gathering, process analysis and stakeholder engagement
  • Awareness of service management concepts, including service design, service transition and service performance
  • Familiarity with workshops, interviews and document analysis
  • Experience working in public sector, secure or complex delivery environments is desirable
  • Able to interpret evidence and translate it into practical outputs
