Role
We are partnering with a leading Financial Markets firm seeking a Business Analyst to support a strategic change programme focused on real-time market data, observability and service health.
This is not a traditional market data or data migration BA role.
We are looking for someone who understands financial markets and market data, but is also comfortable working closely with Product, Engineering and Operations teams to define requirements, shape software delivery and improve how systems are monitored and managed.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, technically curious and comfortable challenging existing ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Work with Product, Engineering and Operations teams to identify gaps in service visibility, data quality, monitoring and operational processes.
- Understand and articulate the business and customer impact of service, data and observability issues.
- Map user journeys across operations engineers, product managers and senior stakeholders, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement.
- Translate business and user needs into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that development teams can build against.
- Work closely with engineering teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle to ensure requirements are understood and delivered effectively.
- Help define meaningful measures of service health, data quality and customer experience across a global real-time market data platform.
- Support the development of a common data model for assessing whether market data is available, timely, accurate and complete from source through to the customer endpoint.
- Work with APIs and technical products, with an understanding of how customers integrate with and consume data services.
- Create clear strategy documents, capability maps, data model specifications and other materials for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Challenge existing processes and ways of working, helping teams identify opportunities to modernise, improve and innovate rather than simply maintain existing systems.
Key Skills
- Strong Business Analysis experience within financial markets, market data or a related technology environment.
- Experience working closely with software development / engineering teams and translating requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Direct experience with market data, exchange connectivity, data feeds or related financial market technology.
- Experience working on API-based products or services, including an understanding of how APIs are consumed, integrated and tested.
- Strong requirements gathering, user journey mapping and problem-definition skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge existing approaches.
- A proactive and innovative mindset, with a genuine interest in improving how technology and data services are delivered and monitored.
- Exposure to observability, metrics, SLIs/SLOs, data modelling or service health would be beneficial.
