Summary: The Business Analyst role focuses on collaborating with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements, particularly in the context of data, reporting, and analytics within the insurance industry. The position involves maintaining the product roadmap, supporting data governance, and ensuring effective communication between business users and technical teams. This is a hybrid role based in London, requiring three days of work from the office each week. The contract duration is for 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and regularly review the data product roadmap and requirements backlog with stakeholder groups to ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and analyse business requirements related to data, reporting, and analytics.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications and user stories for technical teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on objectives.
  • Analyse current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement using data-driven insights.
  • Contribute to governance initiatives by aligning business requirements with policies related to data quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in validating data outputs, dashboards, and analytics solutions to ensure they meet business expectations.
  • Support user onboarding and adoption by preparing training materials and conducting workshops.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of requirements, workflows, and business rules.
  • Identify gaps in existing data products and recommend enhancements to improve business outcomes.
  • Prepare and distribute release notes for each data product release.
  • Support the design of dashboards and visualizations by creating low-fidelity mockups/wireframes.
  • Maintain and update Data Library entries to ensure accurate documentation of available data assets.
  • Support triage of any data quality issues reported by business users.
  • Support requests for adhoc queries from business users.
  • Support timely delivery of core/non-core regulatory reports to regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities:

  • Roadmap/Backlog review and refinement: Maintain and regularly review the data product roadmap and requirements backlog with stakeholder groups to ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Requirement Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and analyse business requirements related to data, reporting, and analytics, leveraging expertise in Commercial and Specialty Insurance as well as Lloyd's/London Market.
  • Data Interpretation & Translation: Translate business needs into functional specifications, and user stories for technical teams; support creation of conceptual and logical data models, including source-to-target mappings, by collaborating with the data analysts, modelers and business stakeholders, ensuring accurate translation of business requirements into data transformation logic.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring clear communication. alignment on objectives and mutual understanding of requirements.
  • Process Mapping & Optimization: Analyse current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement using data-driven insights.
  • Support Data Governance: Contribute to governance initiatives by aligning business requirements with policies related to data quality, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Validation & Testing: Assist in validating data outputs, dashboards, and analytics solutions to ensure they meet business expectations and quality standards.
  • Change Management & Training: Support user onboarding and adoption by preparing training materials, conducting workshops/live demos, and managing change impacts.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of requirements, workflows, and business rules; support reporting and KPI tracking needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in existing data products and analytics capabilities and recommend enhancements to improve business outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Release Notes: Prepare and distribute release notes for each data product release in collaboration with the Product Owner and Technical Architect, keeping stakeholders informed of changes and enhancements to data products.
  • Dashboard/Visualization design Support: Support the design of dashboards and visualizations by creating low-fidelity mockups/wireframes. Work with the design team/Power BI CoE and technical teams, ensuring alignment with branding standards/design principles.
  • Data Library Maintenance: Maintain and update Data Library entries to ensure accurate documentation of available data assets, definitions, and usage guidelines.
  • Support for DQ issues: Support triage of any data quality issues reported by business users
  • Adhoc queries: Support requests for adhoc queries from business users, working with the technical team, as needed.
  • Regulatory reports/submissions: Support timely delivery of core/non-core regulatory reports, including submissions to ELTO, PMDR, RRQ, LCO, and other regulatory bodies.
