Summary: The Business Analyst role involves conducting business analysis for daily Management Information related to crude, lights, distillate, and derivative books. The position requires collaboration with Commodity Risk and Front Office Traders to manage exposure risk and ensure compliance with trading limits. The analyst will also engage in project delivery, supporting the full project lifecycle and managing dependencies across workstreams. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for success in this demanding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct business analysis for daily Management Information (position and P&L) for crude/lights/distillate/assets & derivative books.
- Collaborate with Commodity Risk & Front Office Traders for Hedging and flat price checks.
- Explain Profit & Loss movement on the attribution level post End of Day (EOD).
- Act as Subject Matter Expert on Credit Risk, Demurrage, Deal capture/Contracts, Profit & Loss, Exposure & Cash and Working Capital.
- Manage FX Exposure for trades using cross currency.
- Understand Trading strategy and ensure trading activities are within limits.
- Evaluate current controls and processes in ETRM domain for continuous improvement.
- Work in an iterative Scrum/Agile environment, engaging in sprint planning and daily scrums.
- Ensure systems respond to urgent business requirements and liaise with Pricing & Settlements team.
- Support the full project lifecycle including global delivery and Early Life Support.
- Provide quality assurance on analysis deliverables through peer review.
- Deliver clear user communications and manage user expectations.

Please find below JD:
- Business analysis in calculating daily Management Information (position and P&L) for crude/lights/distillate/assets & derivative books.
- Excellent knowledge of Physical and Derivative Deal Life Cycles across Front, Middle and Back Office for Oil, including understanding of core concepts such as P&L, Exposure and Mark to Market(MTM) reports.
- Working closely with Commodity Risk & Front office Traders for Hedging and flat price checks to ensure exposure risk is managed on all the books.
- Ability to explain Profit & Loss movement on the attribution level post End of Day(EOD) such as Amendment, Market Move, Daily Pricing etc.
- Subject Matter Expert on Credit Risk, Demurrage, Deal capture/Contracts, Profit & Loss, Exposure & Cash and Working Capital, Exchanges etc.
- Strong knowledge on FX Exposure (both Pricing and Settlements) for trades using cross currency to eliminate the risk involved in foreign exchange rate.
- Understands the Trading strategy, sources of value from any exceptional trading incidences and ensuring the trading activities are within the trading limits.
- Continuous improvement through critical evaluation of current controls and processes in ETRM domain.
- Working in an iterative Scrum/Agile environment and engage in activities such as sprint planning, daily scrums, reviews and retrospectives.
- Strong understanding of the data flows between systems upstream and downstream of the Position Manager application and associated Excel Add-in (PMWS).
- Directing efforts to ensure systems respond to urgent business requirements such as new legislation (EMIR, Dodd-Frank) and trading in new commodities (North Sea Oil, Metal, CORN etc.)
- Liaising with Pricing & Settlements team to settle accruals queries and provide detailed analytical assessments of outstanding claims / costs to trading and Bench Commodity Risk.
- Deep dive into cross-product portfolio of freight and post fixture barge claims.
Project delivery:
- Supports the full project lifecycle including global delivery and Early Life Support.
- Supports and manages dependencies with other workstreams across I&E as and when required.
- Provides quality assurance on analysis deliverables through peer review.
- Delivers clear user communications and manages user expectations.
