Summary: The role of Business Analyst - Faster Payments involves supporting a major transformation in payments technology at a leading UK bank. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to define requirements and improve processes related to payments operations. This position is suited for a hands-on analyst with experience in Faster Payments and a solid understanding of banking technology and regulatory changes. The contract is for an initial duration of 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit, analyse and document business and functional requirements for payments-related change.
  • Produce high-quality BA artefacts including requirements documents, user stories, process maps, impact assessments, traceability matrices and supporting delivery documentation.
  • Work across the full change life cycle, from feasibility and business case through to design, implementation, acceptance testing and operational readiness.
  • Map and improve payment processes, identifying impacts across systems, operations, controls and customer journeys.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing, including test scenario definition, defect triage, evidence gathering and business sign-off.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, architects, developers, testers, operations teams, risk and compliance stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and third-party platform providers.
  • Ensure requirements and change activities align with relevant payments regulations, standards, governance and risk controls.
  • Work effectively in a mixed Agile and Waterfall delivery environment, using Jira, Confluence and associated collaboration tools.

Key Skills:

  • Exposure to Faster Payments is essential.
  • Experience delivering payments-related technology or change projects within banking, with exposure to one or more payment schemes or payment types such as CHAPS, Bacs, SWIFT, SEPA, international payments, domestic payments or ISO 20022 migration.
  • Experience delivering payments-related technology or change projects.
  • Understanding of payments technologies, payment channels, payment types, processes and operational flows.
  • Strong requirements-gathering, process-mapping, analysis and stakeholder-management capability.
  • Experience supporting integration delivery, regulatory change, operational readiness and UAT.
  • Able to produce clear, structured documentation and maintain end-to-end requirements traceability.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers.
  • Practical knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

A leading UK bank is undertaking a major modernisation of its payments technology estate, including the replacement of a Legacy platform with a new payments engine.

We are looking for a Business Analyst with Faster Payments experience to join the programme and support the delivery of a large-scale, business-critical transformation. You will work alongside Product Owners, technology teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers to define requirements, improve processes and support delivery through to testing and implementation.

This is a 12-month initial contract opportunity, suited to a hands-on Business Analyst who understands payments operations, technology and regulatory change within a banking environment.
