Summary: The Business Analyst - Data & Reporting role involves translating complex business needs into technical solutions, focusing on data and reporting within an award-winning IT team. The position requires gathering, analyzing, and documenting data requirements while influencing senior stakeholders and operational teams. The role is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Birmingham, combining office and home working. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in data analytics and reporting, particularly with Power BI and SQL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, analyze, document, prioritize, and own data and business requirements.
- Analyze existing Operational Reporting processes to understand data requirements and interdependencies.
- Build relationships with Product Owners and subject matter experts for continuous involvement in program discussions.
- Create data flow and process diagrams to validate requirements.
- Design and develop Power BI Dashboards and collaborate with data engineers on data pipelines.
- Lead requirement gathering workshops and ensure all requirements are captured and documented.
- Identify opportunities for best practices to drive process efficiencies.
- Collaborate with internal and external technical experts for system design and implementation.
- Run user workshops to elicit feedback and document amendments to design requirements.
- Support testing activities and assist with implementation activities including training and communications.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience in Power BI (Data Models, DAX, Visualizations, Dashboards).
- Hands-on expertise with SQL, ETL processes, and data transformation.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and relational databases.
- Experience with large datasets and optimizing report performance.
- Strong stakeholder management and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Strong data analytics and management expertise, including data quality and compliance.
- Experience in assessing processes with strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 5 years industry experience in software and organizational process change projects.
- Full understanding of product development/change lifecycle and project methodologies.
- Strong organizational, planning, presentation, and communication skills.
