Summary: The role of Building Surveyor involves conducting surveys for various types of property damage and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The position is temporary, lasting for six months, and is based in Middlesbrough. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing contractors and liaising with stakeholders to deliver high-quality service in a housing association context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out surveys for critical damage, fire, flood, subsidence and severe damp and mould
- Preparing specifications, schedules of works, and overseeing contractors
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, building regulations, and organisational policies
- Liaising with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, with particular focus on fire, flood and subsidence within social housing or property management
- Strong knowledge of housing maintenance, refurbishment, and compliance
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) or extensive demonstratable experience

Rate: £30.11 Umb / £41,468 per annum (plus a market supplement of £3,599 per annum) pro rata
Venn Group are currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor on behalf of a reputable Housing Association in the Middlesbrough area.
Day-to-day duties will include:
- Carrying out surveys for critical damage, fire, flood, subsidence and severe damp and mould
- Preparing specifications, schedules of works, and overseeing contractors
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, building regulations, and organisational policies
- Liaising with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery
