Summary: The Building Services Engineer role focuses on the design, delivery, and compliance of mechanical and electrical building services within the Nuclear and Defence sectors. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulations and standards while supporting projects throughout their lifecycle. Active SC clearance and sole British citizenship are mandatory for applicants. This role can be offered as either a permanent or contract position, classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver detailed design, specification, and integration of building systems (e.g. HVAC, lighting, power, plumbing)
- Ensure full compliance with defence, nuclear, and building regulations and standards
- Collaborate with project teams, architects, safety engineers and stakeholders to develop integrated solutions
- Support through the full project lifecycle including planning, documentation, and technical oversight during construction and commissioning
- Maintain high-quality documentation and contribute to design assurance and governance reviews
Key Skills:
- Degree-qualified in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g. CIBSE, British Standards, JSPs)
- Demonstrable experience in secure environments such as defence, nuclear or highly regulated sectors
- Utilise CAD/BIM tools to create models and blueprints
- Must hold current SC clearance and be a sole British citizen
