Senior Building Services Engineer Contract | London / Peterborough | Up to £450 per day (LTD) 3–6 Months Initial Contract (Potential 12-Month Extension)

A well-established international engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Services Engineer to support the delivery of a high-specification laboratory and office fit-out project in London . This is an opportunity to join a technically strong team delivering complex projects across the commercial and scientific environments sector , working closely with client-side stakeholders during a key delivery phase. The successful candidate will be embedded within the client’s London office , helping coordinate the building services scope while interfacing with the wider engineering team.

The Role

This is a project-focused delivery role supporting the building services design and coordination across a laboratory and office refurbishment programme. The position will involve working closely with client stakeholders, contractors, and the wider engineering team to ensure building services systems are delivered effectively throughout the project lifecycle. The role will be split between London and Peterborough , with accommodation provided for the Peterborough component if required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of MEP building services systems on a laboratory and office fit-out project
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure services design aligns with project programme and delivery milestones
• Act as a technical interface between the client team, design consultants and contractors
• Review and coordinate HVAC, electrical and public health systems
• Support technical decision-making during the construction and commissioning phases
• Assist in resolving design coordination and services integration issues
• Ensure compliance with relevant UK building regulations and project specifications

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an experienced building services professional with a strong understanding of services integration on complex building projects . Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience working as a Senior Building Services Engineer / MEP Engineer
• Proven delivery experience on commercial, laboratory, life sciences, or complex building fit-out projects
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical and building services coordination
• Experience working within client environments or multidisciplinary project teams
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a project delivery team

Contract Details

Rate: Up to £450 per day (LTD / Outside IR35 expected)

Location: London / Peterborough

Duration: 3–6 months initially

Extension: Potential to extend to 12 months

Accommodation: Hotel provided for 1 night per week in Peterborough if required

The consultancy delivers projects across the UK and internationally , including the Middle East and North America . Contractors who perform well on this assignment may have opportunities to support future projects both in the UK and overseas .
