Summary: The Building Control Manager role involves managing a team of surveyors within the Local Authority Building Control Team (LABC) for a long-term contract. Key responsibilities include people management, recruitment, workload allocation, and ensuring excellent service delivery. The position requires a minimum of two days in the office and offers flexibility for immediate start or after a notice period. Candidates must have prior management experience and hold valid RBI status to 2D or higher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of existing surveyors with all elements of management
  • People management and development
  • Recruitment and retention of new staff members
  • Allocating workloads across the team
  • Identifying training requirements and skills shortfalls
  • Reporting to internal stakeholders and service leaders
  • Assisting with complex queries
  • Completing internal audit documents and tracking
  • Ensuring excellent service management
  • Co-ordinating legacy workloads and projects
  • Plan checking and site visits
  • Minimum of two days in the office which can include time for local site visits

Key Skills:

  • Previous management or team leading experience
  • Experience working at a Principal Surveyor level
  • Valid RBI status to 2D or higher (Class 4 is advantageous)

Salary (Rate): £85/hour

Option to start immediately or after your notice period

Previous management, team leading or working at a Principal Surveyor is required. You must hold valid RBI status to 2D or higher (Class 4 is adventageous)
