Summary: The Building Control Data and Administration Manager will provide essential administrative and data management support to the Senior Building Control Manager at Crawley Borough Council. This role involves overseeing the transfer of building control data from Sussex Building Control and ensuring compliance with operational standards. The postholder will also manage day-to-day enquiries and maintain accurate records to facilitate effective service delivery. The position is temporary, initially for four months, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and enable the transfer and integration of historic building control data from Horsham District Council.
- Coordinate the collation, organisation, and maintenance of building control records and documentation within Crawley BC.
- Ensure the establishment of an effective, reliable and timely enquiries response service on building control for local residents, businesses, builders and developers.
- Ensure compliance with statutory data retention and operational standards.
- Manage correspondence and documentation related to Initial Notices, enforcement actions, and public protection duties.
- Provide administrative support for meetings, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Assist in the development and implementation of service procedures and protocols.
- Maintain accurate databases and filing systems for building control activities.
- Support the Senior Building Control Manager and Building Control Surveyor with day-to-day administrative tasks.

Purpose of the Role
To provide comprehensive administrative and data management support to the Senior Building Control Manager in establishing and operating Crawley Borough Council’s statutory minimum Building Control service. To take a lead role in managing the transfer of all Crawley building control data records and systems from Sussex Building Control based at Horsham District Council into Crawley Borough Council and the associated transitioning, working closely with CBC’s Digital and Transformation team. The postholder will ensure accurate record-keeping, data transfer coordination, and efficient administrative operations. To assist in handling / administering day-to-day Building Control enquiries.
