Summary: The Building & Construction Project Leader will oversee CAPEX projects from inception to handover within a leading Defence & Space organization in Portsmouth. This hybrid role requires the management of multi-functional project teams and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal procedures and project specifications. Candidates should ideally possess current SC Clearance or be eligible to obtain it. The position emphasizes strong project management skills and the ability to maintain excellent client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set-up and manage Multi-Functional Project Teams to deliver projects in accordance with internal requirements and compliance to company procedures.
- Lead MFTs through the detailed design of Building Services for a range of projects including major plant replacement and refurbishment works.
- Conduct condition surveys, service delivery audits, and prepare plant replacement/life cycle plans.
- Apply industry standard design and calculation software.
- Liaise with clients, architects, and other design team members.
- Prepare reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Develop and maintain excellent client relationships.
- Manage suitable projects and ensure excellent communication skills.
- Monitor, audit, and validate progress of Professional Service Work Packages and site works, ensuring technical compliance and H&S matters.
Key Skills:
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a Multi-Functional Project Team (MFT).
- Previous experience ideally within FM in a senior PM role.
- Experience in Capital Investment Project management and project delivery.
- ONC / HNC or equivalent in a Building Engineering Services design-related discipline.
- Experience of Building Engineering Services Refurbishment in existing buildings.
- Demonstrable experience of taking projects from inception to handover.
- Ability to develop client briefs into construction requirements.
- Good practical understanding of mechanical and electrical plant, systems, and equipment.
- Previous experience working within a consultancy environment.
- Relevant level of professional membership (e.g., CIBSE, IMechE, IET).
- Effective communication skills with stakeholders.
- Responsible for assuring safety, security, and ethical compliance.
