Summary: The Building Construction Project Leader is tasked with overseeing CAPEX projects from inception to final handover, ensuring effective project delivery and compliance with safety and ethical standards. This role requires strong leadership skills to manage a multi-functional project team and a solid background in building engineering services. The position is full-time, based on-site in Broughton, and initially offered as a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will possess relevant experience in facilities management and capital investment project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and lead CAPEX projects from inception and feasibility to design and final handover.
  • Manage and motivate a multi-functional project team, including external professionals and contract managers.
  • Develop client briefs into construction requirements, including scopes for external professionals.
  • Ensure safety, security, and ethical compliance in accordance with company requirements.
  • Oversee project delivery and monitor site activities.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in facilities management in a project management role.
  • Capital investment project management and delivery experience.
  • ONC / HNC or equivalent in a building engineering services design-related discipline.
  • Experience in building engineering services refurbishment for small to medium-sized projects.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems related to engineering design and maintenance.
  • Previous consultancy environment experience.
  • Relevant professional membership (CIBSE, IMechE, IET).
  • Effective communication skills with stakeholders.
  • Experience with NEC3 contracts.

The Building Construction Project Leader will be responsible for setting up and leading CAPEX projects from inception and feasibility, through to design and specification and final handover.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Experience within FM in a PM role
  • Experience in Capital Investment Project management, and project delivery is required.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and manage a Multi-Functional Project Team (MFT) including – external professional staff, contract managers, client
  • ONC / HNC or equivalent in a Building Engineering Services design-related discipline
  • Previous experience of Building Engineering Services Refurbishment in existing buildings with particular emphasis on delivering small to medium sized projects
  • Demonstrable experience of taking projects from inception and feasibility, through design and specification to site monitoring and handover.
  • Ability to develop client brief into construction requirements, including scopes for External Professionals, i.e. architect, structural engineer, systems designers
  • A good practical understanding of mechanical and electrical plant, systems, and equipment in relation to engineering design, operation, and maintenance across a wide range of sectors and building types.
  • Previous experience working within a consultancy environment.
  • Hold relevant level of professional membership i.e. CIBSE, IMechE, IET
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Responsible for assuring safety, security, and ethical compliance i.a.w. company requirements
  • Experience in Facilities Management / Construction Management – particularly NEC3 contracts
