Summary: The Desktop Build Engineer role is a contract position based in Oxford, focusing on the build and configuration of new desktop and laptop equipment as part of an IT integration project. The engineer will be responsible for deploying devices, ensuring compliance with security standards, and providing deskside support during the rollout. This position requires proven experience in desktop rollout and a strong knowledge of relevant software and systems. The contract is for three months and is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, configure and deploy Windows-based laptops and desktops
  • Install and configure software within a Microsoft 365 and SCCM environment
  • Support hardware refresh projects across multiple UK sites
  • Ensure all devices are compliant with security and licensing standards
  • Work with internal stakeholders to prioritise deployment schedules
  • Provide basic deskside support during the rollout phase

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in desktop rollout or hardware refresh projects
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and SCCM
  • Experience with on-prem Active Directory environments
  • Ability to hit the ground running and manage workloads independently
  • Full UK driving licence preferred (travel to other sites may be required)
  • DBS and background checks will be conducted as part of onboarding

Job Title: Desktop Build Engineer (Contract) Location: Oxford (5 days on-site) Competitive daily rate (Inside IR35) Contract Length - 3 months A leading professional services organisation that has made 2 major acquisitions require an experienced Desktop Rollout Engineer to build and configure new equipment.

Role Overview: This contract will support a high-priority IT integration, initially focusing on the Oxford hub. The role will involve laptop/desktop builds, configuration, and deployment as part of a broader refresh programme. Equipment is already ordered and scheduled for delivery.

Desktop Rollout Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Build, configure and deploy Windows-based laptops and desktops
  • Install and configure software within a Microsoft 365 and SCCM environment
  • Support hardware refresh projects across multiple UK sites
