Summary: The Break Fix Engineer role focuses on supporting a laptop refurbishment project by diagnosing hardware faults and performing repairs. The engineer will be responsible for disassembling and reassembling laptops, replacing components, and ensuring devices are fully operational. This position requires a strong understanding of hardware handling and adherence to safety procedures. The role is based in Cannock, Staffordshire, and operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble and reassemble laptops safely and efficiently
- Replace faulty keyboards, SSDs/HDDs, batteries, and other components
- Diagnose basic hardware faults
- Perform functional testing following repairs
- Maintain accurate repair and asset records
- Follow ESD and health & safety procedures
Key Skills:
- Previous experience in laptop repair, refurbishment, or break/fix engineering
- Confident working with a range of laptop manufacturers
- Experience replacing keyboards, storage drives, batteries, and other internal components
- Good attention to detail and ability to work to productivity targets
- Strong understanding of hardware handling and ESD practices
