Summary: The Body Electronics Engineer role involves working with a globally recognized automotive company in Cranfield, focusing on the application and integration of electrical and electronic components in vehicles. The position is a long-term contract that may extend for several years, requiring collaboration across various design sections and management of suppliers to meet quality and timing targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate & develop cost reduction ideas for electronic components, collaborating cross-functionally with design sections.
  • Application and integration of electrical and electronic components and systems to client’s European vehicles.
  • Releasing and maintaining the vehicle BOM.
  • Capture customer requirements and create high-level specifications.
  • Coordinate with global Alliance R&D centres.
  • Manage tier 1 suppliers to achieve quality, cost, and timing targets.
  • Oversee supplier and in-house validation to meet client standards.
  • Create and maintain end-of-line configuration data.
  • Responsible for Plant and Market support.
  • Achieve commitment cost and monitor timing.
  • Ensure QBASE and G-CAR closure within company guidelines.
  • Release design according to the agreed schedule.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electronic or electrical engineering.
  • Competent with PC applications such as MS Office.
  • Knowledge of CAN, CAN tools, and vehicle diagnostics.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Practical experience with problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • 3 years or more relevant experience in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and electronic devices.
  • Understanding of hardware and software development processes.
  • Project and supplier management experience.
  • Ability to travel within the UK and internationally.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated and self-managing.
