Summary: This role as a Blockchain Developer focuses on creating production-grade blockchain solutions that enhance digital asset infrastructure on Ethereum and develop tokenization platforms for sustainability, such as carbon credit systems. The position involves practical engineering work aimed at real-world adoption, whether in a cutting-edge London-based company or a remote clean technology organization. Responsibilities include designing blockchain services, implementing smart contracts, and integrating APIs for on-chain and off-chain activities. Candidates should have a strong background in Ethereum, Solidity, and modern JavaScript frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement critical components of blockchain services and smart contract ecosystems.
  • Build token workflows including minting, transfer, verification, and retirement mechanics.
  • Implement token standards such as ERC 20 and ERC 1155 with structured metadata.
  • Set up and operate multi-node Besu networks using IBFT 2.0 or QBFT consensus.
  • Deliver repeatable testnet deployments and integrate APIs connecting on-chain and off-chain systems.
  • Produce clear documentation supporting security review and audit readiness.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in Ethereum and Solidity with experience in building and deploying smart contracts.
  • Understanding of core Web3 patterns, transactions, events, wallets, and token standards.
  • Ability to write clean code and collaborate with product and engineering teams.
  • Confidence with NodeJS and modern JavaScript standards (ES6, ES7).
  • Familiarity with ReactJS or VueJS for supporting user flows.
  • Experience with Hyperledger Besu and permissioned network design is a plus.
  • Exposure to carbon markets, ESG data, or sustainability platforms is beneficial.

Detailed Description From Employer:

London or Remote

The opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of Web3, financial market infrastructure, and sustainability tech. You will help build production grade blockchain solutions that either modernise digital assets infrastructure on Ethereum or deliver permissioned tokenisation platforms such as carbon credit issuance and retirement. The work is practical, engineering led, and built for real world adoption, not just demos.

Where you might be working

In Central London you could join a cutting edge blockchain company building an Ethereum platform aimed at decentralising parts of traditional financial services. On a remote contract you could support a clean technology organisation building a carbon offset tokenisation system using Hyperledger Besu, with smart contracts, APIs, and audit ready delivery.

What you will own

You will design and implement critical components of blockchain services and the smart contract ecosystem. You will build token workflows including minting, transfer, verification, and retirement mechanics, and you will implement token standards such as ERC 20 and ERC 1155 with structured metadata like project ID, vintage year, and verification body. For permissioned programmes you will help set up and operate multi node Besu networks using IBFT 2.0 or QBFT consensus and deliver repeatable testnet deployments. You will build and integrate APIs that connect on chain activity with off chain systems, including MRV style measurement, reporting, and verification feeds. You will produce clear documentation that supports security review and audit readiness and helps the wider team maintain the solution.

What you should already be good at

You are comfortable with Ethereum and Solidity and have built and deployed smart contracts, either in production or advanced side projects. You understand core Web3 patterns such as transactions, events, wallets, token standards, and common security pitfalls. You can write clean code, break down complex problems, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to ship outcomes. You are confident with NodeJS and modern JavaScript standards like ES6 and ES7, and you can work with ReactJS or VueJS when needed to support user flows.

Nice to have but not essential

Hyperledger Besu, permissioned network design, consensus configuration, and experience building for regulated or evidence heavy environments. Exposure to carbon markets, ESG data, or sustainability platforms is also helpful. Experience with Web3 tooling, testing, and secure smart contract development practices will help you move fast.
