Summary: The BI Developer role involves designing and developing data models, schemas, and pipelines for a leading IT services supplier. This hybrid position allows for remote work while requiring attendance at the London office four days a week. The contract is temporary, lasting over six months, and aims to start as soon as possible. The role demands expertise in SQL and BI technologies, particularly PowerBI, along with experience in data warehousing and processing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design and development of efficient data models, schemas and pipelines
  • Develop data ingestion and processing solutions using existing framework
  • Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures and functions to extract, transform and load data
  • Optimize query performance to ensure data integrity and consistency
  • Providing BI technology subject matter expertise, collaborating with risk stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Implement data security measures and access controls aligned with firm's governance policies
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines; identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and document change made in the required format
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment and monitoring of data solutions

Key Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with an in-depth understanding of advanced SQL concepts and techniques
  • Experience working with large scale, multi-terabyte data warehouses
  • Solid knowledge of data warehousing principles, dimensional modelling and star schema design
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including their architecture, features and best practices
  • Familiarity with data integration tools and techniques (ELT, ETL)
  • Expert level PowerBI experience
  • Familiarity with Scripting languages (eg Python, Powershell) for data processing and automation
  • Experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modelling

BI Developer

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires BI Developer to be based at their client's office in London, UK.

This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the London office 4 days per week .

This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start asap

Day rate: Competitive Market rate
