Summary: The BCBS 239 Data Governance Consultant role involves supporting a regulatory data initiative aimed at enhancing risk data aggregation and reporting capabilities. The position requires compliance with BCBS 239 principles and entails a hybrid working model with three days onsite in Glasgow. Candidates must have relevant experience and be based locally, as travel expenses will not be covered. The contract is for six months with potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with BCBS 239 principles and support implementation of Risk Data Aggregation and Reporting (RDAR) frameworks.
- Identify and document Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and trace data lineage from source to report across multiple systems.
- Support the build and maintenance of metadata repositories and data catalogues using tools like Collibra.
- Apply data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK to existing processes and support the implementation of global data standards.
- Conduct assessments of data quality controls, data models, and ETL processes.
- Engage with technical and business stakeholders to facilitate data discovery workshops, document system flows, and present lineage findings in a business-friendly manner.
Key Skills:
- In-depth understanding of BCBS 239 compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with risk data aggregation and reporting principles.
- Knowledge of banking data domains; operational data experience is a plus.
- Strong experience identifying and documenting Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
- Ability to collaborate with system owners and SMEs to trace end-to-end data flows.
- Proficient in data lineage tools (e.g., Collibra) and metadata repositories.
- Solid understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
