Summary: The Battery Test Automation Engineer role at JLR involves developing and maintaining automation tools for High Voltage Traction Battery Systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain automation tools for HV battery testing using CAPL, Python, and C++.
  • Manage and troubleshoot CAN/FlexRay/LIN/Ethernet communication protocols, utilizing CANoe/CANalyzer for diagnostics and test automation.
  • Support data analysis and visualization using tools such as AVL Concerto, Tableau, and Minitab.
  • Work with automotive network interfaces (Vector CANalyzer/CANape, INCA, VehicleSpy).
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including Risk Assessment, COSHH, and SDS.
  • Collaborate with engineers, test operators, suppliers, and external agencies to enhance test capabilities.
  • Provide first-line diagnostic support to minimize test facility downtime.
  • Validate and interpret engineering documents and electrical schematics.
  • Report technical issues to management and implement structured problem-solving approaches.
  • Maintain expertise in HV Battery and Charging technology, including facility operations.

Job Purpose: The Battery Test Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining automation tools to support the design verification (DV) and development of JLR’s High Voltage (HV) Traction Battery Systems. The role involves working across internal test facilities and external test houses, ensuring seamless operation of automation tools, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing test efficiency while adhering to JLR’s safety policies.
