Summary: The Banking Assistant role involves performing weekly cash and card reconciliations for managed pubs with a turnover exceeding £1bn, ensuring risks are identified and escalated as necessary. The position requires collaboration with operators and the audit team to resolve discrepancies and manage secure collections and deliveries of cash. The role also includes training site staff on banking processes and handling queries effectively. Key Responsibilities:

  • Download bank statements from a central portal
  • Perform weekly bank statement and card reconciliations
  • Communicate with sites to identify late or missing bankings
  • Manage the open items report, identifying risks and escalating as required
  • Work daily with banks and cash collection providers
  • Resolve telephone and email site queries
  • Assist with banking arrangements for new pub openings and closures
  • Raise and post corrective and period-end journals
  • Assist with customer refund processing
  • Identify cash discrepancies and escalate where appropriate
  • Deliver training to sites on banking team processes
  • Manage Zonal Helpdesk queries related to banking
  • Arrange courier collections and report issues in a timely manner
