Band 8a Psychologist- CAMHS

Job Overview We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and committed candidate to apply for this Band 8a post, or a Band 7 developmental post with the opportunity be supported to complete proficiencies in line with the LPT 7-8a pathway. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly. The move to a Band 8a post would be upon completion of required competencies as agreed and reviewed with managers. This post is a fixed term post for 12 months maternity cover, the 7-8a developmental pathway takes a minimum of 18 months. Please call to discuss individual situations and progression on this pathway as this post can support you to develop along the pathway, however the time scale of the contract is not lengthy enough to complete the whole pathway.

Leicester Partnership Trust is now a large provider of Community Health, Mental Health and Learning Disability services, serving a population of approximately 1 million people across Leicester City, Leicestershire and Rutland. We are advertising for a Clinical Psychologist to join our large team of Psychologists working in a strong multi-disciplinary setting delivering services for young people and their families / carers in Leicestershire. We are a large multi-disciplinary service of over 180 professional staff. Our CAMHS service is comprehensive and in addition to the City and County Outpatient teams has specialist teams for inpatient adolescent services, learning disabilities, primary mental health services, children and young people with eating disorders, Crisis services, looked after and adopted children, young offenders and homeless children and paediatric psychology.

The post will serve the Young People’s Team, which is a specialist mental health team, offering mental health assessment and intervention to children, young people and their families who are Looked After, Adopted, known to Youth Justice Services or who are homeless. The team accepts referrals from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The post holder will be passionate about addressing health inequalities and have an ability to be creative about how services are offered to improve access to this vulnerable group. The post holder must have a good understanding about the impact of adverse childhood experiences and early trauma on children and young people and an awareness of the implications of this in practice. This post involves a substantial amount of consultation and training to the network. The post holder must be a confident and competent trainer. Supervision of a clinical psychology trainee and contribution to service development will also be required for candidates at 8a level. We are keen to support people in their continued professional development. The post holder will be joining a large supportive service with good levels of supervision and a personal development programme to help achieve further relevant training targets. Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities) To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality, specialist clinical psychology service, to children, young people and their families under the care of the CAMHS To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service/team. To regularly carry out audit, policy and research activities and/or programs. To propose and support the implementation of policy and service development changes within the service area.
