Summary: The role of Band 6 Rehabilitation Engineer involves providing temporary support to the Birmingham Wheelchair Service, focusing on assessing and addressing the postural and mobility needs of wheelchair users. The position requires a qualified healthcare science practitioner to develop innovative solutions in compliance with relevant legislation and quality management systems. This role is part of a larger team and includes participation in continuous professional development and clinical supervision. The position is available for part-time work and covers maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake assessment of postural and mobility needs for service users of Birmingham Wheelchair Service.
- Create innovative and safe solutions to meet the assessed clinical needs of wheelchair users.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and ISO13485:2016 Quality Management System.
- Participate in continuous professional development and clinical supervision programs.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Science related subject or equivalent.
- Significant experience working with wheelchairs and/or seating.
- Ability to work within an ISO13485 Quality System.
- Good communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze simple biomechanical and engineering problems.
- Knowledge of wheelchairs and seating.
- Current registration with RCT or HCPC.
- Highly self-motivated and flexible.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Empathy towards people with disabilities.
