Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care during insourced ophthalmic surgical lists.
  • Work flexibly as a scrub nurse, circulating nurse, or anaesthetic support nurse as required.
  • Prepare and check ophthalmic theatre equipment, instruments, implants, and consumables in line with the surgical list.
  • Assist surgeons during ophthalmic procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique.
  • Support procedures performed under local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
  • Undertake pre-operative safety checks, including patient identity, consent, laterality, and IOL verification.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in line with host trust and insourcing company requirements.
  • Participate in post-operative handover and patient monitoring where required.
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centred care, ensuring reassurance and clear communication throughout the surgical pathway.
  • Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
