Summary: The role of Azure Solutions Architect / Senior Technical Consultant focuses on leading a critical migration and archival project for a SharePoint 2019 environment nearing end-of-support. The position requires designing a secure, scalable Azure-based archival solution for approximately 7 TB of data, ensuring compliance and accessibility while mitigating risks associated with interim storage. The consultant will also manage stakeholder expectations and provide cost estimations for Azure resources. Immediate start is required for this contract position based in London.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a high-level design (HLD) for a secure and scalable Azure-based archival solution.
- Architect solutions leveraging Azure Files and Azure Backup with cross-region disaster recovery.
- Design for long-term retention (up to 22 years) and compliance requirements.
- Ensure solution is aligned with security and IRR standards for immediate approval.
- Lead migration of ~7 TB data from SharePoint 2019 to Azure.
- Utilize Sharegate for data and metadata extraction and migration.
- Ensure metadata preservation and accessibility (e.g., CSV exports).
- Define and execute validation strategies to ensure data integrity post-migration.
- Develop Terraform scripts to provision Azure infrastructure.
- Configure secure networking (private endpoints, secure tunnels).
- Implement identity and access management using Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Set up non-production and test environments for dry runs.
- Design secure architecture ensuring data encryption at rest and in transit.

SharePoint 2019 is nearing end-of-support (mid-July deadline). Current platform sustainability is limited (~1 month remaining). Data volume: ~7 TB requiring secure archival. Objective: Deliver a robust Azure Files-based solution with enterprise-grade security and compliance. Avoidance of unsecured interim storage solutions is critical (IRR-sensitive).
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & Design
