Summary: The Azure Network Engineer (SD-WAN) role involves leading a critical migration project from MPLS to SD-WAN, with a focus on integration into Microsoft Azure and SASE platforms. This position requires a skilled engineer to work in a hybrid environment, performing both on-site and out-of-hours tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Azure-based network components. Strong experience with networking protocols and equipment is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the migration from MPLS to SD-WAN, including integration with Azure networking services.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot Azure-based network components including:
- Azure Firewall, Load Balancer, NAT Gateway
- VNets, Virtual Network Gateways, Application Gateway
- Azure Route Server (hands-on experience highly desirable)
- Collaborate on the deployment and optimization of Azure SD-WAN solutions.
- Work with SASE platforms to enhance network security and performance.
- Configure and maintain BGP, OSPF, IPSEC, GRE, and other core networking protocols.
- Support and maintain Juniper (EX4600, MX104, SRX) and Cisco infrastructure across access and data centre layers.
- Collaborate with teams to implement and manage Versa SD-WAN solutions.
- Perform network changes during scheduled out-of-hours windows.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience with Azure networking and SD-WAN implementations.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols: BGP, OSPF, IP, TCP/UDP, IPSEC, GRE.
- Hands-on experience with Juniper (EX4600, MX104, SRX) and Cisco networking equipment.
- Familiarity with MPLS, VRFs, and enterprise routing.
- Experience working with Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Exposure to SASE platforms and cloud-integrated security models.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
