Summary: The Azure Infrastructure Engineer role is a contract position focused on building and optimizing core Azure infrastructure for a business undergoing a migration program. The engineer will collaborate with an internal IT team to design scalable foundations within Microsoft Azure, ensuring a secure cloud environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Azure Landing Zones aligned to best practice.
  • Build and configure Virtual Networks (VNets) and associated networking components.
  • Support workload onboarding into Azure in line with agreed architecture.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and third-party suppliers where required.

Key Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven delivery of Azure Landing Zones and networking (VNets, NSGs, peering, etc.).
  • Experience structuring Azure environments with governance and best practice in mind.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles and infrastructure hardening.
  • Solid understanding of Azure Security and firewalls.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a contract engagement with minimal oversight.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills.
  • Experience with both VWAN and Azure SQL is desirable.

Overview

We are supporting a business delivering a focused Azure migration programme and are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Engineer on a contract basis. This is a hands-on role centred around building and optimising core Azure infrastructure, supporting the organisation's transition into a well-structured, secure cloud environment. You will work closely with a small internal IT team to design and implement scalable foundations within Microsoft Azure.
