Summary: The Senior Azure Data Engineer role involves designing and implementing a cutting-edge data platform to enhance organizational decision-making through data insights. This position requires expertise in Azure data architecture and cloud data warehousing, with a focus on integrating diverse data sources and developing robust data models. The role also includes mentoring a small team and collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable analytics. The position is remote-first with occasional travel to London and is offered as a 6-month contract with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess existing data infrastructure and shape a future-fit Azure data warehousing strategy.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance architecture in Azure.
  • Integrate diverse data sources including Azure SQL Database and Microsoft Business Central.
  • Develop robust data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and implement governance best practices.
  • Partner closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable analytics.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of developers and analysts, fostering technical excellence.

Key Skills:

  • Proven expertise in Azure data architecture and cloud data warehousing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Microsoft Business Central.
  • Strong skills in ETL/ELT, data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Understanding of Azure networking, security, and access control (VNETs, private endpoints, etc.).
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Bonus Points: Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Purview and Power BI.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Solutions Architect Expert).
