Summary: The Azure Cloud Engineer role is a contract position based in Glasgow City Centre, focused on overseeing the planning and engineering of cloud computing applications and services for a public sector organization. The successful candidate will ensure the performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of Microsoft Azure infrastructure while collaborating with the Cloud Service Provider. This position requires strong technical expertise in Azure and excellent problem-solving and communication skills. The contract is initially for 6 months, with a possibility of extension until March 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and engineering of cloud computing applications/services.
- Assess performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of services on Microsoft Azure.
- Manage Azure infrastructure, services, fabric, and applications.
- Collaborate with the Cloud Service Provider (CSP).
- Resolve technical issues and ensure efficient utilization of Azure resources.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience in Cloud Engineering / Cloud Analyst roles, particularly with MS Azure.
- Technical knowledge of Azure Arm/Bicep Templates, Azure networking services, and Azure Virtual Machines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience working on large projects with various teams and stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the Scottish Public Sector is advantageous.
- Formal Azure certifications (AZ-700, AZ-500, AZ-305) are beneficial but not essential.

A Glasgow-based Public Sector organisation is currently seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to join their team until end March 2026.
The successful candidates will help to oversee the planning & engineering of the Client's Cloud Computing applications/services and will also assess the performance, security, and cost-effectiveness of the services, ensuring efficient utilisation of the Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
Working alongside the Client's Cloud Service Provider (CSP) candidates will be responsible for the Azure infrastructure, services, fabric and applications and to be successful, my Client is seeking the following knowledge & experience:
- Strong & recent experience working in another, similar Cloud Engineering / Cloud Analyst role with particular emphasis on MS Azure
- Broad technical exposure covering Azure Arm/Bicep Templates, Azure networking services including Virtual Network (VNet), Virtual WAN, VPN Gateway, Private Endpoints, Peering Service and Azure Bastion, Azure Virtual Machines and Microsoft Entra ID
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to assess, analyse and resolve technical issues
- Strong experience working on other large projects, with various teams and a range of key stakeholders
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Previous experience working in the Scottish Public Sector would also be highly advantageous
- Any formal Azure certifications would be hugely beneficial but not essential (AZ-700, AZ-500, AZ-305 etc)
