Summary: The AWS Platform Developer role involves providing technical expertise to an agile development team within the public sector, focusing on the AWS platform. The position requires hands-on experience in designing and building software for cloud deployment, with a strong emphasis on security and governance. The role is primarily remote with occasional travel to Scotland and is classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and support full-stack services for software delivery on the RoS AWS Platform.
  • Collaborate with Product Teams to ensure best practices in developing, testing, deploying, and supporting AWS products.
  • Develop and support libraries and services that present platform features.
  • Create accessible UIs in React based on GDS principles.
  • Produce API specifications that support sustainable products.
  • Enhance the security of AWS Lambda functions.
  • Deprecate legacy products in favor of cloud-based alternatives.
  • Ensure compliance with RoS governance and security requirements.
  • Support core platforms including container platforms and monitoring services.
  • Develop and support Gitlab runner CI and CD services.

Key Skills:

  • Significant experience in designing and building software for cloud deployment using PaaS and SaaS.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript UI frameworks, specifically React.
  • Experience with AWS Serverless architecture and cloud-native services.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD methodologies and AWS CI/CD tooling.
  • Ability to define infrastructure and processes as code.
  • Experience with automated testing in AWS environments.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, and EC2.
  • Experience with containerized platforms like Kubernetes and ECS.
  • Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
  • Understanding of AWS security and networking.

Salary (Rate): 530
