AWS Platform Engineer

Summary: The AWS Platform Engineer role involves joining an Insurance client on a 12-month contract, focusing on AWS cloud infrastructure and platform engineering. Key Responsibilities:

• Configure pricing system products and develop within programming languages such as XML, C++, Python, and R.
• Translate and prioritize business requirements into technical solutions.
• Utilize strong AWS cloud and infrastructure experience.
• Understand technology in product development and the full project life cycle.
• Produce comprehensive and accurate documentation.
• Apply knowledge of Microsoft technologies.
• Engage in AWS Platform Engineering, including Compute, Networking, Storage, and Databases.
• Manage APIs and utilize API Gateway.
• Implement AWS Security and Identity Management.
• Employ DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Work with event-driven architectures and system integration.
• Focus on software architecture and cloud-native design.
• Ensure testing, quality assurance, and platform reliability.
• Monitor security, compliance, observability, and monitoring.

Key Skills:

• Experience of configuring pricing system products previously and/or experience of writing, testing and developing within a programming language such as XML, C++, Python and R or similar would be equally useful.
• Ability to work with business stakeholders to translate and prioritise business requirements into technical solutions is highly desirable
• Strong AWS cloud/Infrastructure experience
• An understanding of technology in product development is highly desirable
• An understanding of full project life cycle in a structured environment would be an advantage
• Strong writing skills to produce comprehensive and accurate documentation
