Summary: The role of AWS Platform DevOps Engineer is a 6-month contract position based in Birmingham, requiring active SC and NPPV3 clearance. The engineer will work with a leading digital transformation business, focusing on delivering large-scale IT projects for the public sector. The position involves a hybrid working arrangement with travel to Birmingham 2-3 days a week. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining AWS-based cloud solutions with an emphasis on security and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions with a focus on best practice cloud security.
- Provision infrastructure using Terraform and VMs with tools such as Vagrant.
- Work as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime AWS environment, including automation with configuration management tools.
- Utilize strong scripting skills for automation tasks.
- Manage Jenkins and pipeline using Groovy script.
- Work with Docker containers and Amazon Linux 2023 AMI.
- Implement system monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
- Utilize Git, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow for incident and change management.
Key Skills:
- Experience with AWS technologies (e.g., EC2, RDS, ELB, EBS, EFS, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS).
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell, Perl, JAVA).
- Experience with Docker and system monitoring tools.
- Hands-on DevOps delivery experience in government organizations.
- Linux system administration experience.
- Knowledge of Windows System Update Service and DFS Replication.
- Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols.

- Experience with DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime AWS environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell, Perl, JAVA) and automation skills.
