AWS Network Engineer (Palo Alto, Firewalls, Python) - Amsterdam

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and troubleshoot AWS networking environments.
• Manage and optimize AWS networking services, including:
• VPCs
• Transit Gateway
• Gateway Load Balancer
• Route Tables
• NAT Gateways
• VPN Connectivity
• VPC Peering
• Own and operate cloud firewall infrastructure, including policy management, upgrades, and security controls.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable networking solutions.
• Investigate and resolve complex network and security incidents.
• Support the transition and operational ownership of existing AWS firewall deployments.
• Contribute to network automation initiatives using Python and Infrastructure as Code.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on AWS networking experience, including design, deployment, operations, and troubleshooting.
• Deep knowledge of:
• VPC Architecture
• Transit Gateway
• Gateway Load Balancer
• Routing and Connectivity
• VPN Solutions
• Experience managing cloud firewall solutions in AWS.
• Practical firewall experience with:
• Palo Alto Networks (preferred)
• Fortinet
• Cisco
• Check Point
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management capabilities.
• Python scripting and automation experience (3+ years preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Palo Alto VM-Series deployment experience in AWS.
• Terraform, CloudFormation, or Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Cloud security and network security expertise.
• Experience taking ownership of security services within cloud environments.
