Summary: The AWS IoT Engineer role involves designing and deploying secure, scalable IoT architectures for a public sector client, focusing on occupancy monitoring. The position requires collaboration with various professionals to optimize cloud-based infrastructure and applications for real-time data analytics. The role is hybrid, allowing for remote work alongside in-office days, and is initially for three months with potential for extension. Candidates must possess a live and active SC clearance to be eligible for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and configure AWS IoT solutions using AWS IoT Core, Greengrass, SiteWise, and Kinesis.
- Develop secure, scalable, and highly available IoT architectures in line with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Create secure, reliable data pipelines integrating Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift, and CloudWatch for real-time analytics.
- Implement secure device communication using AWS IoT security policies and encryption.
- Optimize deployments for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with cloud architects, data engineers, and cybersecurity professionals to future-proof the IoT ecosystem.
- Support and maintain IoT operations, including documentation updates and troubleshooting.
Key Skills:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS-based IoT solutions.
- Expertise in AWS IoT Core, Greengrass, SiteWise, and Kinesis.
- Strong understanding of MQTT, JSON messaging, and device provisioning.
- Familiarity with AWS analytics and storage services: Redshift, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch.
- Proficiency in Python or Node.js.
- Deep knowledge of cloud security best practices: IAM, encryption, network security.
- Proven experience resolving complex IoT connectivity and performance issues.
- Experience working in regulated or secure environments.
- AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate/Professional), AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified IoT Specialty (highly desirable).
- Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
- Experience with AWS SageMaker or other ML/AI tools for IoT analytics.
