Summary: We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps/Platform Engineer to contribute to a public sector project, requiring active SC and NPPV3 clearance. The role demands extensive expertise in AWS technologies and DevOps practices, focusing on cloud security and infrastructure management. Candidates should possess strong scripting and automation skills, along with experience in various monitoring and configuration tools. The position is based in Birmingham/Croydon, UK, with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions with a focus on best practice cloud security.
- Provision infrastructure using Terraform and manage VMs with tools like Vagrant.
- Automate processes using configuration management tools in a 24x7 AWS environment.
- Configure and manage Open LDAP, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and system monitoring tools.
- Deploy and configure Postfix SMTP and Dovecot IMAP Servers, and manage mail clients.
- Implement COTS products and maintain Nginx and Squid Proxy with mTLS.
- Analyze and resolve complex infrastructure resource and application deployment issues.
- Utilize Git, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow for incident and change management.
- Automate software package installations and conduct security scanning with Nessus and antivirus tools.
Key Skills:
- 10+ years of experience with AWS technologies (EC2, ECS, RDS, etc.)
- Expertise in AWS networking, Terraform, and Vagrant.
- Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python, PowerShell) and automation experience.
- Knowledge of Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and system monitoring tools.
- Experience with configuring mail servers and clients.

Essential Skills and Experience:
- 10+ years of experience with a broad range of AWS technologies (eg, EC2, ECS,RDS, ELB, EBS, EFS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, SSM, HSM) to develop and maintain an AWS-based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security.
- Expertise in AWS networking using VPC, NACLs, route53, transit gateways and VIFs.
- Expertise in provisioning infrastructure using Terraform and VMs with tools such as Vagrant.
- Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime AWS environment, including automation experience with configuration management tools.
- Strong Scripting skills (eg Shell, Python, PowerShell) and automation skills.
- Experience in configuring Open LDAP
- Thorough knowledge of Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline using Groovy script.
- Experience with Docker containers and Amazon Linux 2023 AMI.
- Experience with system monitoring tools (eg, Grafana, Alert Manager, Prometheus, and Node exporter).
- Experience in deploying and configuring Postfix SMTP and Dovecot IMAP Servers.
