Summary: The AWS DevOps Engineer role involves joining a dynamic team on a short-term contract to enhance cloud infrastructure and improve CI/CD pipelines within an AWS environment. The position requires a strong background in AWS services and experience with containerization and Infrastructure as Code. The contract duration is three months, with an immediate start date. The role is hybrid, requiring three days per week in Sheffield and the remainder remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Manage Kubernetes clusters and deploy containerised applications
- Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows
- Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and optimise performance
- Implement and maintain security and compliance controls across AWS environments
- Collaborate with software developers and architects to support continuous delivery and operational excellence
Key Skills:
- Proven background as an AWS DevOps Engineer in commercial environments
- Strong expertise in AWS core services including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, RDS, Route 53, and VPCs
- Solid experience with Kubernetes and containerisation using Docker and Amazon EKS
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CodePipeline
- Monitoring and logging with tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar
- Scripting in Python, Bash, or similar
- Good understanding of networking, security groups, load balancers, and general cloud security best practices

We're looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic team on a short-term contract, starting as soon as possible. You'll be instrumental in supporting and enhancing cloud infrastructure, deploying scalable services, and improving CI/CD pipelines within an AWS environment.

Day Rate: c. £500 per day (inside IR35)
