Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on AWS using tools such as Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, and Airflow.
- Develop and optimise data models, data lakes, and warehouses (eg Amazon S3, Redshift, Snowflake).
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance in line with regulatory and compliance standards common to financial services.
- Work collaboratively with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers to deliver robust, high-performance data solutions.
- Implement monitoring, automation, and alerting for data workflows using AWS native and third-party tools.
- Optimise data storage and retrieval for performance and cost efficiency.
- Stay current with emerging AWS services and technologies, contributing to ongoing platform evolution.
- Support data security and privacy initiatives, ensuring adherence to GDPR, ISO, and internal risk policies.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer working on cloud data platforms, preferably AWS.
- Hands-on expertise with AWS services such as Glue, S3, Redshift, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, and IAM.
- Strong SQL and Python skills for data manipulation, transformation, and automation.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data models in large-scale environments.
- Understanding of CI/CD principles and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
