Summary: The role of AWS Cloud Engineer requires current SC or DV clearance and involves joining a central Data & Insights team for a Central Government client. The position focuses on deploying web applications using AWS infrastructure and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. Candidates should have experience with CI/CD pipelines and a strong understanding of security practices in a government context. Front End experience and performance optimization skills are also beneficial for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of deployment of web applications using AWS infrastructure, including but not limited to ECS, ECR, Athena, S3, Codepipeline, Lakeformation, Lambdas, and Cognito
- Ability to deploy architecture as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) most favourably via Terraform or Open Tofu.
- Experience in developing CI/CD pipelines using Github Actions and AWS Code-pipeline.
- Preferably experience in integrating the automatic deployment of IaC as part of a Github actions workflow.
- Strong understanding of authentication and security practices, particularly in a government context.
- Experience in developing and implementing row level security practices for Front End applications would also be beneficial.
- Understanding of network security and how this integrates with the deployment of web applications, for both external and internal audiences.
- Some Front End experience, particularly with plotly-dash and JavaScript frameworks would also be beneficial.
- Ability to improve the performance of existing applications for example by optimising the efficiency of existing workflows via the introduction of data caching tooling.
