AWS Cloud Engineer (Contract) | AWS, Terraform & Python | Building Secure Research Platforms at Scale

Day Rate: £600–£800 per day

Contract Length: Initially 6–12 months

Location: London / Hybrid

The Role

In this role, you’ll design, build and operate the AWS infrastructure that underpins complex, high-impact cloud workloads used by engineering and research teams. You’ll own the AWS landing zone and core platform services, creating secure, scalable foundations that enable teams to work efficiently and safely in the cloud. This is a hands-on contract role focused on delivery, automation and operational excellence, with a strong emphasis on security, governance and developer experience. You’ll work closely with engineers, platform teams and stakeholders to continuously evolve the cloud environment, ensuring it supports experimentation, scale and long-term stability.

What you'll do:

You’ll be a seasoned AWS engineer with a strong platform mindset. In this role, you will:

  • AWS multi-account landing zone: Design, build, and maintain a scalable, secure landing zone across multiple accounts.
  • IaC: (Terraform & CloudFormation): Implement IaC to automate provisioning and configuration of AWS resources.
  • Security, compliance & governance: Embed controls across the platform to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Automation & developer tooling: Build tools to simplify cloud adoption and improve the developer experience.
  • Monitoring & observability: Support monitoring, alerting, and incident response across the AWS environment.
