Summary: The role of AWS Cloud Engineer involves developing high-quality, performant code while leveraging AWS services and adhering to secure coding principles. The position requires collaboration with Product Owners to address business challenges and improve application functionality. Candidates should possess extensive experience in software development, particularly with AWS technologies and Agile methodologies. The role is hybrid, based in Knutsford, and has a contract duration until the end of June 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality, performant, and well-documented code adhering to secure coding principles.
  • Understand and work with CloudFormation templates (Infrastructure as Code/IaC).
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to address business and customer problems.
  • Provide input on technical designs and identify potential performance and security issues.
  • Manage work using Scrum and Kanban Agile methodologies.
  • Review code changes made by others to support personal development and product quality.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and present in tech forums.
  • Support releases through to production and improve CI/CD processes.

Key Skills:

  • 9+ years of experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in Go, with familiarity in Java being desirable.
  • Application architecture skills and understanding of AWS services integration.
  • Strong engineering practices (XP, TDD), CI & CD, and pair programming.
  • Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Relevant AWS certification (e.g., Cloud Practitioner, Developer, or Architect).
  • Ability to drive the end-to-end software development life cycle.
  • Strong customer focus and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with automation in software development.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented concepts and SOLID principles.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse technical audiences.
