Summary: We’re seeking a skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to join a high-impact technology team supporting a leading financial services client. The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-native solutions with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and apply Site Reliability Engineering principles to enhance system performance and availability. This position requires a strong background in AWS cloud engineering within regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement AWS-based infrastructure to support complex financial applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse requirements, ensuring scalable cloud solutions.
- Lead technical troubleshooting of distributed systems, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to improve system availability and incident response.
- Contribute to software architecture decisions and promote best practices across the technology stack.
- Monitor technology trends to advise on strategic improvements and modernisation opportunities.
- Support change and transformation initiatives in cloud adoption and digital delivery.
- Ensure compliance with risk, control, and regulatory requirements in all deployments.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in AWS cloud engineering within financial or regulated environments.
- Strong background in distributed systems, infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and DevOps tooling (CI/CD, monitoring, logging).
- Deep understanding of risk and control frameworks relevant to cloud and financial platforms.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to technology advisory and solution design.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative teams.
- Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
- Familiarity with SRE practices and observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) is desirable.
- Experience with agile delivery and transformation programs is advantageous.
