Summary: The Aviation Configuration Project Manager is responsible for overseeing Configuration Management activities for a large aerospace manufacturer in Filton, Bristol. This role involves managing the Change Management process, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and coordinating between various departments. The position requires a strong understanding of Configuration Management principles within the aerospace industry and involves regular audits and documentation management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the programme Change Management process to track and incorporate changes into baselines.
  • Coordinate interactions between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, and program management.
  • Ensure maintenance and timely release of configuration baselines and records.
  • Collate and review change impact assessments for Change Control Boards (CCB’s).
  • Manage the Change Implementation Board (CIB) and create Change Paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with customer Configuration Management Plan and flow down of requirements to suppliers.
  • Support Configuration and Data management tasks, including database administration.
  • Validate change documentation for clarity and correctness.
  • Apply Lean tools to business processes and complete periodic CM audits.

Key Skills:

  • Prior Project Management experience within the Aerospace industry.
  • Clear understanding of Configuration Management principles in Aerospace.
  • Knowledge of ISO10007 and AS9100 standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Product Data Management (PDM) applications (Windchill preferred).
  • Knowledge of product change management in complex organizations.
  • Experience with CM process audits and compliance with Export Control/ITAR requirements.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Windchill, and CAD Interrogator (CATIA V5 and V6).
  • Document Management experience.
  • Familiarity with Airbus numbering conventions and Configuration Management model (CMII) is desirable.
  • Project management experience and Export Classification Engineer Certification (ECE).
