Automation Tester

Role overview

Develop and maintain automated black-box and white-box tests.

Build a strong technical understanding of systems under test.

Manage automated test execution, reporting and performance testing.

Improve test processes, efficiency and automation frameworks.

Work with developers to reproduce and resolve defects.

Collaborate with the wider test team and present improvement ideas.

Define testing standards and reusable frameworks for company-wide use.

Essential experience

• Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to resolve complex technical issues.
• Good object-oriented programming skills, ideally using Java.
• Knowledge of Ant/Maven, Git/SVN and Jenkins.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A clear commitment to software quality.
• Testing experience is not essential; software engineering experience is welcome.

Desirable skills

• Test frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit or xUnit.
• Defect and test management tools such as JIRA.
• Web automation tools such as Selenium.
• Automation and environment tools such as Puppet, Chef or Vagrant.
• Performance testing and test framework development experience.
