Summary: The Automation Tester role is focused on ensuring software quality through rigorous test design, development, and execution, particularly in Mainframe systems and modern automation frameworks. The position involves hands-on test automation and collaboration with cross-functional teams on high-impact projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing automated test scripts and improving QA processes. This is a 6-month contract with potential extensions, based in Northampton.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive test plans and strategies
- Develop and execute automated test scripts using tools like Java, Selenium, Cucumber, Maven
- Work with DevOps tools including AWS, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with developers, BAs, and designers to define and validate acceptance criteria
- Conduct root cause analysis on defects, supporting resolution and tracking
- Leverage Eclipse, IntelliJ, and version control tools like Git for development and testing
- Stay updated with emerging testing trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Deep understanding of the testing lifecycle, approaches, and quality assurance techniques
- Proficient in writing test strategies, test cases, bug tracking, and test execution
Key Skills:
- Mainframe experience: JCL, CICS, SQL, FileAid, AbendAid, Cobol, DB2 & VSAM
- Use of Java, Selenium, Cucumber JVM, and Maven
- Rest APIs
- Development environments: Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA
