Summary: The Automation Tester role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions to ensure software quality and reliability. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to define test strategies and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate should possess strong programming skills and experience with test automation frameworks. This role is based in Glasgow and requires 2-3 days on-site work per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts for web, mobile, and/or API applications
- Develop and maintain test automation frameworks and reusable test components
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA team members to understand requirements and define test strategies
- Identify, document, and track defects, ensuring timely resolution
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing
- Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports on quality metrics
- Maintain test environments, test data, and testing tools
- Ensure best practices in test automation, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
- Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies to improve test efficiency
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Strong experience in automation testing using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, or similar
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#
- Experience with test frameworks (eg, TestNG, JUnit, Mocha, PyTest)
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing life cycle (STLC)
- Experience with version control tools like Git
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar
- Good understanding of REST APIs and API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
